Campus Life is a day program for young autistic adults (17 to 25 year olds) that are transitioning from school into the next phase of their lives. It is based at tertiary campus locations where participants can mingle with their peers in the dining hall, café and seminar rooms. It is an adult learning environment with choices and lots of fun. The program generally involves speech therapy, an exercise class, and music therapy. Participants do a lecture quiz on current affairs and entertainment news, some Business studies, and passion projects. The curriculum is accessible, visual, engaging and suitable for adults with intellectual disability. There is de-sensitising space and support for augmented communication.

CurriculumWeekly Business or Arts Studies are based on key foundation concepts. These are highly modified, visual presentations with choices and simple activities.
Current affairs and entertainment presentations and quizzes are delivered in a lecture theatre and answers are chosen from an app on their iPads. Passion projects are developed with each young adult based on their interests. They work on these with inclusion assistants. |
SocialisationOne of the key features of inclusion is eating lunch with other students at the campus. The dining areas are well-used by students and represent a good opportunity to mingle.
Participants eat at the café or bring lunch and eat in the dining area. Afternoon games of UNO and puzzles are enjoyed together by the young adults. |
